DILI (lifaupress) : Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL) conducted Korean language classes in June and July 2025 at educational institutions in Dili, the capital of Timor-Leste.

The initiative aimed to promote mutual cultural understanding and spread the values of peace through Korean language education. In societies where multiple languages and cultures coexist, cultural gaps among members can emerge.

Language education is increasingly recognized as an effective tool for enhancing mutual understanding and facilitating intercultural communication. With this perspective, HWPL is committed to fostering mutual respect and empathy through educational activities focused on language and culture.

Timor-Leste is a nation with a young and dynamic population, marked by diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds. Promoting harmonious coexistence among communities is considered a national priority, and educational efforts to bridge cultural differences play a vital role in building a peaceful and sustainable society.

The Korean classes introduced students to consonants and vowels, and incorporated games and activities to make the learning experience engaging and enjoyable. Beyond language acquisition, the program emphasized the message: “We may be different, but we can walk together.”

In the first half of 2025, HWPL offered short-term Korean language courses at five educational institutions in Dili. A total of 11 sessions were held, distributed as follows:
•Universidade Dili (UNDIL): 3 sessions
•Instituto Profissional de Canossa (IPDC): 3 sessions
•Instituto Ciências da Saúde (ICS): 1 session
•Universidade da Paz (UNPAZ): 2 sessions
•Timor-Leste Korean Center: 2 sessions

This initiative is not intended as a one-time event but as a stepping stone for sustained cultural exchange and cooperation between the two countries. HWPL plans to further strengthen its ties with Timor-Leste through ongoing programs, including language education, as part of its practical efforts to promote peace. Education-based peacebuilding, in particular, is expected to contribute significantly to sustainable development.

The Korean language classes are being recognized as a meaningful example of fostering mutual understanding and laying the groundwork for intercultural exchange through education. HWPL remains committed to advancing peace and strengthening international cooperation through its ongoing initiatives.
